A strange accident occurred in Savannah, Georgia when a turtle unexpectedly crashed through a car window, narrowly avoiding serious harm to the passengers. Latonya Lark and her brother Kevin Grant were driving on the Harry S Truman Parkway on May 12 when the incident took place.
Fortunately, the turtle only broke the window and got stuck there, sparing the driver and passenger from major injuries. Lark initially mistook the turtle for a brick and alerted her brother to the situation. The sound of breaking glass startled them both.
Reacting quickly, they shielded themselves as best they could in the limited time they had. Lark believes that the turtle was hit by another car and thrown onto their windshield.
After the incident, Lark and Grant immediately pulled over and called for assistance. The car was heavily damaged, requiring it to be towed away. Lark later learned from a police officer that if the glass hadn't been thick and if they hadn't slowed down upon seeing the object, the outcome could have been disastrous.
Rescue workers at the scene removed the turtle from the shattered windshield, but sadly, it had lost one of its legs. Despite their efforts, the turtle succumbed to severe blood loss and died a few days later.
Lark now emphasizes the importance of staying focused while driving, especially at high speeds, urging others to be attentive and avoid distractions on the road.
