The National Football League (NFL) has announced the finalists for the Coach of the Year award for the 2020 season. The finalists are Nick Sirianni of the Indianapolis Colts, Doug Pederson of the Philadelphia Eagles, Kyle Shanahan of the San Francisco 49ers, Brian Daboll of the Buffalo Bills, and Sean McDermott of the Buffalo Bills.
Nick Sirianni, head coach of the Indianapolis Colts, led his team to a 11-5 record in his first season as head coach. He guided the team to the playoffs, after missing the playoffs in the previous season. Doug Pederson, head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, led his team to a 9-7 record and a playoff berth despite many injuries to key players. Kyle Shanahan, head coach of the San Francisco 49ers, led his team to a 6-10 record despite a number of injuries to key players and a difficult schedule.
Brian Daboll, the offensive coordinator of the Buffalo Bills, helped the team to the AFC Championship Game with a 13-3 record and a #2 ranking in total offense. Sean McDermott, the head coach of the Buffalo Bills, led his team to a 13-3 record and a spot in the AFC Championship Game, the team's first appearance in the Championship Game in 25 years.
These coaches have been recognized for their leadership, game-planning, and ability to lead their teams to success in the face of adversity. The winner of the Coach of the Year award will be announced at the NFL Honors ceremony, which takes place the night before the Super Bowl.
